Cozumel is an island off the Eastern coast of Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula. It is approximately 48 km (30 miles) long and 16 km (10 miles) wide. It is 20 km (12 miles) from the mainland. You can reach Cozumel via direct flight from many cities in the USA, by taking a 30 min ferry ride from Playa del Carmen, or a 15 min small plane ride from Cancun Airport. You will arrive directly close to downtown San Miguel.

Mayans lived on the island since 300 AD. It prospered as a trading center and a ceremonial site for Ixchel, the goddess of fertility.

The island has been a favorite destination for divers since Jacques Yves Cousteau’s documentary in 1961 broadcasted Cozumel’s glorious sealife to the world. Discover Cozumel's reefs here.
